Round 1 – Bahrain – FIA Formula 2
Paul Aron threw down the gauntlet in the opening round of his first season in Formula 2, seizing a maiden podium in the Feature Race in Bahrain on Saturday.
Harnessing the momentum from a 5th place finish in the Sprint Race, Aron gave a clear signal that he already had his eyes on the prize in his F2 debut. He scythed through the field from 12th and with four laps remaining of the 32-lap race displaced Zak O’Sullivan to secure the final podium placing.
The Estonian secured 19 points across both races, placing him in an early third place in the standings.
“It’s been a great journey so far. The team has been pushing a lot since testing, so I’m very, very thankful to them and happy for the results here in Round 1. It’s a positive way to start the season and I hope to carry the momentum through to Jeddah.”
The team now heads to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, the fastest street circuit in the world, for Round 2 of the FIA Formula 2 season on March 7-9.
