Dino Beganovic will race with Hitech GP in the 2025 FIA Formula 2 Championship.
The 20-year-old Swedish driver, a member of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy, will be embarking on his first full season of Formula 2. Having completed two campaigns in Formula 3, he was given the opportunity to take an early step up to F2 for the final two rounds in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
Dino is regarded as one of the most exciting up-and-coming talents on the road to F1, confidence he rewarded in his first competitive F2 outing in Lusail two weeks ago. In his first F2 Qualifying, with little preparation mileage from an abbreviated Practice session, he posted the fourth fastest lap to line up on the second row of the grid for his inaugural Feature Race.
It was a sensational debut, one that went from good to great when Dino took 10th place in the Sprint Race, then fifth in the Feature Race, earning his first 10 Championship points.
Just one week later, in Abu Dhabi, another remarkable Qualifying performance placed him fifth on the grid for the Sprint and Feature Races, putting further points finishes within his reach. He finished fourth on track on Saturday but was promoted to his first F2 podium following the application of post-race penalties and would also gain a place on the Feature Race grid. Seventh place on Sunday elevated him to P20 out of 32 in the Drivers’ Championship, a fitting conclusion to a brief but outstanding two-round campaign in which he emphatically announced his arrival on the FIA Formula 2 stage.
In 2023, Dino made an impressive start to his Formula 3 campaign, claiming four podiums and a string of points finishes to finish sixth in his rookie season. In his second year in the series, he added two victories to his record, two further podiums, and another significant haul of top-10 finishes, ending an incredibly competitive season sixth in the Drivers’ Standings with 109 points.
In Dino’s first season in car racing in 2020, he undertook a dual F4 campaign, claiming third in the Italian series, alongside the ADAC edition. In 2021 he embarked on the first of two seasons in the Formula Regional European and Formula 3 Asian Championships. It was a solid first campaign, but when he returned to FRECA the following year, he took a hugely impressive four race victories and 13 podiums to claim the 2022 title.
Prior to embarking on his single-seater career, Dino racked up multiple Swedish karting titles as well as an impressive WSK Euro Series runner-up finish. He graduated to OK-Junior then OK, securing the title in both the Italian and Swedish Championships in his final season in karts.
“I’m thrilled to join Hitech GP for my first full season in Formula 2 next year,” said Dino Beganovic. “Having had a brief introduction to F2 over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been really impressed by the car and the level of the championship.
“Stepping up full time in 2025 with one of the series’ top teams is an amazing opportunity,” Dino continued. “I’m tremendously grateful to Hitech, Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy, and everyone else who made this possible. It’s a big, important step in my career and I can’t wait to start working with the team this week at the post-season test.”
Clive Hatton, Hitech GP’s F2 Team Manager, commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Dino for our 2025 Formula 2 campaign. Having competed against him for several years, it is great to have him driving for Hitech and we look forward to working with him.
“Dino’s record in single-seater racing is impressive. After two highly competitive seasons in Formula 3, he took his F2 debut in his stride in Lusail, demonstrating that he was ready to take the next step up the ladder. His performance in Abu Dhabi one week later was outstanding.
“Together with Luke, we have a strong line-up to fight for the Formula 2 Championship title next year. They each bring F2 race experience that will be invaluable heading into testing and the new season.”
