Cordeel narrowly missed out on a maiden podium in Saturday’s F2 Feature Race, after maintaining P3 for several laps until the last sector. In a drag race to the line, he lost out to Hauger and Crawford separated by just 0.127s, resulting in a 5th place finish.
“I’m a bit sad to lose the podium in the last corner. Starting P20, you never expect to finish in the top five,” added Cordeel.
“But we were the only ones running our strategy and it meant I was able to stay on the supersofts for quite a long time, and I think that was what enabled us to finish P5.”
“So, a great race and I’m looking forward to Melbourne.”
Aron was promoted to P10 and the final points-paying position, having taken the chequered flag in P11.
Hitech are now tied on points with the third-placed team in the standings.
The team will head to Melbourne for Round 3 of the FIA Formula 2 Championship on 22-24 March.
